Adopt a Child
Adoption Services
One of CHARLEE’s major goals is to ensure stability and permanency in the lives of children who have been permanently removed from their families and placed in foster care. The majority of these children would likely spend their childhood in the foster care system, were it not for adoptive parents who consider adopting an older child. Since opening our Adoptions Division in 2000, we have facilitated more than 210 adoptions. Typically, we serve more than 100 families per year by recruiting, training and educating about adoption a number that will double by 2005, given the growing population served by CHARLEE.
CHARLEE has a dedicated Adoptions unit that makes it easy for potential adoptive families to identify local children who are available for adoption and then to facilitate and deliver more services to the new family unit. A team of adoption professionals assists local families in maneuvering through the process, and provide additional support on top of that provided by the state for this population of children.
